Reverend Harold G. Woodworth (1933-2021) had a wonderful life of Christian service. Truly a builder of congregational communities, his pastoral ministry ranged from the Deep South during 1960s racial tension to chaplainship in Vietnam.
As a sermon illustration meme, he invented George of the Padded Pew. George is the parish Everyman.
His friend and artist Dick Thiede drew up a George figure.
Today, we are using George (and now Mendy!) as the continuation of his ministry.
